IMAP settings

- Username
- the full address
- Password
- a 16-character app password
Create an app password
- 1Turn on 2-Step Verification for the Google account, if it isn’t already.
- 2Open myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, give it a name like “VayaMail” and create it.
- 3Paste the 16 characters into the wizard as the password. You can delete the app password when the move is done.
On Google Workspace, an administrator can turn app passwords off for the organisation. If the page says app passwords aren’t available, ask your admin. Sign-in with Google instead of an app password is planned.
Labels and All Mail
Gmail shows each label as an IMAP folder and every message again in “All Mail”. Copying from Gmail, VayaMail skips All Mail, Important and Starred by default so a message with three labels is not copied four times.
Copying into Gmail, each folder becomes a label and Sent lands in “Sent Mail”. Trash and Spam from the old host stay behind unless you include them.
Large mailboxes
Google caps how much one account can upload or download over IMAP per day. If a big move stops with a “throttled” message, start it again later: everything already copied is skipped.
